The RANSA Regatta.
With pre race drinks for ASQMA held at the RSYS that included great company and conversation. We also had a chance to look at some new metre yacht merchandise, some historic framed pictures of the 30sqm Classic and a wonderful collection of slides which will be featured on this website in the coming months.
The racing took place on Sydney Harbour with Scarlett O'hara, Wings and the 8metre yacht Erica J. Also on the water were the Skippers of Bacchante and Rouseabout. The day was a good shake down race for Wings with this being her first race since her restoration. With very little wind to get Wings to the start line Scarlet O'hara was well ahead and had her sights on Erica J. The wind picked up to a good 15knts over the long course running from the Oprah house to Manly and back with a second lap to finish by Clarke Island. Scarlet O'harra took the win over Erica J and was first to the jetty for some well earned drinks at the club house with a live band creating a perfect atmosphere to finish a good day on the water thanks to the team at RANSA. More images to come for this event so watch this space.
Wednesday Afternoon No Kite Sailing (W.A.N.K.S) at Royal Perth Yacht Club - Swan River West Australia
On Wednesday afternoons all year around there is JAM (JibandMain)sailing at the RPYC.
35-50 yachts meet for some fine sailing to survive the working week.
The 30 SQM's (The Lady in Red - Kim Roberts, Joyous - Bill Robertson() and 22SQM Sue-Ann - Phil Mostyn) use the opportunity
to show the beauty of their timeless vintage yachts. Joyous and The Lady in Red are found on the podium.
From time to time receiving bragging right: Kim loves the fresh conditions as Bill revels in the moderate winds.
The afternoon is rounded off with a beer or 2,3,4.... in the pen of the club to be continued with more in the club,
as the salty WA air requests a serious re-hydration after the intense competition.
